Battery Powered Exit Signs
Battery Powered Exit Signs
Exit signs are a visual guide that lead occupants towards the nearest exit of a building or facility by providing an illuminated version of the word 'EXIT'. If you are searching for battery exit signs, you are most likely seeking one of the following things: an exit sign that operates on batteries, a battery for your current exit sign, or an exit sign that uses batteries to stay on in case of a power outage. Th Exit Store manufactures and provides over 200 models of exit signs, some of which use batteries and some that do not. We also carry a full line of replacement batteries for exit signs.
|Battery backup systems are standard on most models|
Unfortunately, there are no exit signs that operate solely on battery power. The batteries that are located inside exit signs are there for backup purposes only, they are not powerful enough or large enough to keep an exit sign on for an extended period of time. The batteries that are inside exit signs are part of the "battery backup system"; a system that keeps an electrical exit sign operating and illuminated for at least 90 minutes during a power outage. Buildings that do not feature a backup generator that keeps the lighting system (including exit signs) functional during a power outage are required to have exit signs with battery backup systems. The Exit Store offers many different types of exit signs with battery backup, all of which use efficient LEDs to provide brilliant EXIT illumination in colors of red or green. We offer affordable thermoplastic, durable cast aluminum, and stylish Edge-Lit models. See below to view these models. |We offer many sleek and appealing designs of glow in the dark exit signs|
If you do not have electricity available where you need to install an exit sign you can save the money of hiring an electrician and eliminate the invasiveness of an electrical installation by choosing one of two types of non-electrical exit signs; photoluminescent or self-luminous. Photoluminescent exit signs glow in the dark and install in less than 20 minutes. Photoluminescent exit signs charge their glow in the dark pigment by absorbing light and then glow when dark conditions are present. The Exit Store photoluminescent exit signs are UL 924 Listed and meet the same exact code compliances and regulations as electrical exit signs, plus they last up to 25 years! The only requirement is that there is at least five foot candles of light on the face of the photoluminescent exit sign at all times when the building is occupied. Five foot candles is an extremely small amount of light, easily satisfied by most commercial lighting systems which easily output 20 times the amount of light needed. Glow in the dark exit signs are popular for commercial buildings such as offices, hotels, and retail stores among others. When the building or facility is unoccupied, light is not required to be on the face of the sign. Photoluminescent exit signs will glow for at least 90 minutes in complete darkness, the same amount of time that an electrical exit sign's battery backup system is required to operate for. We offer single and double sided models with a variety of face and frame color options. If there is not five foot candles of light available or the lights are turned off while the building is occupied, a self luminous exit sign is the non-electrical exit sign solution for you.
|Self-luminous exit signs need no type of power source to operate|
Self-luminous exit signs are constantly illuminated for up to 20 years with no need for electricity or light. They are completely universal, there is absolutely no power source needed to operate a self-luminous exit sign. This type of sign utilizes tritium, a glowing form of hydrogen gas, which glows green and can be seen from up to 125 feet away in total darkness. We encapsulate the tritium gas into tubes, which are arranged to spell EXIT, and then enclose the sign with an ABS thermoplastic case that has an 1/8" thick polycarbonate shield. The sign can be used indoors or out, regardless of weather and environment. Self-luminous exit signs are favored for their versatility and longevity. There is no maintenance required, no batteries to test, or bulbs to change. At the end of the lifespan of the sign we will help you recycle them. We offer single and double sided models with a variety of face and frame color options.
